Final MSU Senate of the Year Cancelled

Yesterday’s (30/04) Maynooth Students’ Union Senate was cancelled due to the absence of President Kyla Henry and VP of Academic Affairs Roddie Mac Aoghnasa.

The MSU Instagram page posted a statement last night saying that as a result of these absences the Senate was unable to meet its quorum.

This was to be the last MSU Senate held during the 2024/25 academic year.

Reports such as minutes and agendas are no longer available on their website, which goes against requirements stated in the current MSU constitution.

Article 14.7 regarding the Student Senate states: “All official minutes, agendas, reports, and policies of the Student Senate shall be published on the Union’s website, save for any provisions in the Standing Orders of the Student Senate”.

Similarly, there are no longer any links provided to MSU Activity Reports and MSU Trustees’ Annual Report & Financial Statements, despite the stated belief in “openness and accountability” on the same web page.

It is unclear when access to the minutes, agendas and reports was removed.

More information to follow.
